Well OP, I've got a little suggestion for you. IMHO, Guild Wars isn't exactly a good game if you want to be a "hardcore" player. It's supposed to be a game that you can pick up or drop anytime you want.

However, if you want some good games for hardcore people who love the good ol' Evercrack style grind, I suggest trying these...

OP-

Items that are high in price will NEVER stay that way. Items that are rare as heck will NEVER stay that way unless there is no way to get more of them. This is the situation your fellblade, and in the future, your spider will run into. Welcome to online gaming.

Yeah, Okay we play MMORPG's for fun, True.

BUt if you are gonna sit here, and tell me that EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU, isnt on some lvl and eliteist. I will tell you that you are all liars.

Please, that okay, which one of you isnt wearing Epic armor on atleast one character?

WHY? I mean whats the point, they have the same exact stats. How many of you arent wielding awesome looking weapons, when other weapons that look lame have the same stats?

its arguable that you want those thigns for you, cause they look cool to you, but in the end, how many of you arent secretly showing off, on some lvl, or wanting to hear COOL ARMOR from a noob.

DUDE you can all jump on the TROLL/FLAME wagon if you want, and try and say that you dont care.

But For those of us that want to be ELITE in an MMORPG, ( and NEWS FLASH) thats a good portion of the community guys, we DID get screwed.

Yeah ITEMS DO DEPRICATE IN VALUE as they are replaced by newer items. But not on the lvl that items depreciated when they introduced INSCRIPTIOns.

That is not the same thing.

Sword 1 = 100k sword 2 comes out. Now Sword 2 = 100k and sword 1 =50k. FINE got it, totaly exceptable.

Sword 1 = 100k All parts that make sword 1 sword 1 are released as purchasable items. Sword 1 = 10k. Not cool man. And WHY did they do it. So we had to get NIGHTFALLS. Because than the only trule ELITE weaopons were the things from gates of torment, and the only way to get those Inscriptions was in Nightfalls.

So for the casual gamer, Who by all rights has the right to play for just "FUN" is getting what they want. The Hardcore gamer "which read the title, is who im talking about" Got shafted

TO SUM IT ALL UP. read the damn title. I know what you guys want, "TO Have fun" and thats fine. But I'm talking about GW's lack of respect and concern for those of us who play games on a HARDCORE lvl, who WANT to be elite.

And yes I have a life, but Games are also a big part of it. I wont appoligize or be made to feel like a looser for that. I am 26 I have a house and good job, im a combat veteran and I have a Great Girl friend and NOTHING to be ashamed of.

But I love video games, so does my GF, and we are both Eliteist's when it comes to an MMORPG. I love GW, I love the Mechanics the PVP, and Plan on playing GW 2, But I felt shafted when Night Falls Came out.

Imagine if you earned the Max Drunkard title. TONS of time and money invested. Litterally HUNDEREDS of hours and Millions of Gold, and than a month after you get it. They make Spiked Egg Nog availabe at the vendor for 10g a pop, and let you earn Drunk time at a X's 10 interval in a "TAVERN" You would be pissed right?

I lol'd at the idea of you using that as an example, because that gives me reason to think that's going to happen. I suppose we're getting Free Kanaxais too?

There's plenty of swords and other items out there that cost over 100k.

I wear the titles I have and the armor I bought and the minipets I won because I like them.

Nightfall came out a year ago, at least. Why complain now?

If you don't have the God title and high rank and FoW armor and the rarest weapons and inscriptions, either you don't want them and aren't going for them, or you should just shut up, because you have plenty more things to try to be hardcore.

In summation, GW changed. Quit QQing.

If you want to show elitism, quit spending hours farming and instead spend your hours grinding. Go max out KoaBD and then walk around having people in awe of you. That's definately something that will never be done in 18hrs

Considering that you've already given NCSoft/ANet your money for the game, how is this supposed to hold any weight? That's the type of comment/threat you tend to see in subscription-based games and even then they don't really do much.

The game is almost 3 years old now, did you really expect no one else would get Obsidian armor after Nov 2005?

You're playing the wrong game. This is not, and never has been, an item driving MMO. It's an online action RPG that goes out of its way NOT to be equipment based.

A couple qwik replies for the OP's last post...

I am relatively new, and yes I have Elite armor for my main char, I got the elite armor because my original armor looked so junky to me it was driving me nutz.... I dont expect prestige from the elite armor....if I even cared about the prestige, prestige comes with multiple sets of leet armor and max titles IMO, thats what really shows time and effort put into the game.

Which brings me to my next point.....being good at a video game is not going to make you "Elite" in my book.I Play the game for the sake of having a good time, not for a self esteem or ego boost.

And finally, it's a game...meant to be played with your spare time- if you spend so much time on the game that changes to the game make you feel like "now its all just a waste" somehow, you play the game way too much.

So now since you've lost your point, you're just throwing random insults? That's very productive of you. It must have taken a real toll on your mind to think that one up. Maybe you should go rest it.

Your confusion on the word "Trolling" is not mine to deal with, and on that note, nor is your mindset. You can insult/flame people/threads, and flame for no reason on the internet all you want, if it makes you feel like a bigger boy. I won't stop you.

This thread has gone way off topic with pictures and confusion of definitions. Let's get back to discussing the issue at hand, which is the fact that OP does not think that it's fair that Arenanet has devalued the items/activities that were once rare or hard. The fact is that new updates will kill those things. Every game gets new updates that make things easier. More skills, more items, PvE skills, etcetera. You cannot rightfully expect things to stay golden forever in a game that will be updated at some point in time. That's just the way it is.

- Yeah, there's nothing to be ashamed of, but I would still consider going to get some professional help for that superiority complex you've developed and your compelling need to feel superior on some game played by teenagers.

I had to check the date on this to see if someone brought back an old thread, seriously. Complaining about traders and crap when they have been in the game for what seems like forever, if the OP was as hardcore as he says, why is he complaining about all this junk now? It has even gotten to the point when it seems likes tomes have been around forever and he just now complains about them also.

*puts hand up* Can't be bothered getting the weapons that look great unless they're easy to find (e.g. BMP skins). If it does the job I'll use it. More interested in killing things than looking rich while doing it.

I do, conversely, actually think my Myish's Scythe looks pretty cool, but considering the popularity of the Tentacle Scythe skin I have a suspicion nobody else does.

Guild Wars is not an item-focussed game. It doesn't make much difference having a max weapon or a reasonably good one. Thus, it already doesn't suit farming very well. With that in mind, having inscriptions suits the goal; it makes it much easier to get the exact weapon you want without taking forever to get the combination of mods you were looking for. Or buying it for 100k + 30e.

I've played the game almost from its inception and I've enjoyed the changes that have been made. Let's say that the game has evolved. The fact that the economics of the game has changed things, is an excellent aspect of it. I don't care that my Req 8 Storm Bow and Chaos Axe sells for under 100K. They are still unique items that I would rather have, than not have. Who cares that the HoD sword that I paid 300K for now sells for 5K, or, the Sephis Axe and on and on. They are still unique and rare items. There are new items that look good and are cool to have. I like my Torment Shields and my Hierophant items and my Pyroclastic Axe. It doesn't bother me that everyone has these items, too. Let everyone look cool.

As far as I'm concerned, it's about taste. I get the items and armor I think looks good. I think FoW armor is really ugly. After looking at them all, I like Primeval Armor. Who cares that FoW armor is considered the best and hardest to get. I am no fan of Fellblades. To me they are just oversized razor blades.

Anyone can make make money to get the best items. Even the casual player. It's always been than way. Once I bought a HoD sword for 200K and sold it for 400K the next hour. Anyone can farm. It doesn't take hours of ones time.

If there is one thing I hated about the older game, it was the rise of a group of elitest jerks, who thought they were better than the rest of us because they had the good items. It wasn't the items that made them jerks, it was the attitude they displayed, in game and on the forums. It's only a game and the items were virtual, not real. But, hey, I didn't have to associate with anyone I didn't like. That's what the ignore list is for. That's one of the many things built into the game that is great.

And speaking of jerks(I was looking for a way to get this in-lol), what's the deal with the people in DoA, lately? I have encountered, with growing regularity, some of the rudest jerks in the DoA groups. I would like to say it is just the Ursan groups, but, I can't say that. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel the same way? I've done DoA plenty of times and lately, I have gotten into some groups that have players that think their feet don't stink, to paraphrase the saying.

Is that the point of the rant? You farmed something to sell it and now it isn't worth as much?

To the OP: Your priorities and conception of what is "elite" are highly misplaced.

Anything in PvE can be bought with eBay'd gold = nothing you wear (armor, item, or title) is going to automatically earn my respect.

Being "elite" implies winning. Winning implies competition. So to be elite, you must compete. There is very, very limited competition in PvE (challenge missions to show who's better at fighting AI...AB's aren't PvE so they don't count). Without competition, there is no "elite" status IMHO.

(And before someone calls me a PvP elitist, I'm not, I'm a PvE player, and I'm not and never will be "elite" in GW without first rising to the top of a PvP ladder, which is something I will probably never do. I have multiple sets of so-called "elite" armor, various items that are/were rare, and you know what? They never made me a better player.

Nightfalls brought Inscriptions. OH THX, cool so the 10 req 9 15 ^50 Fell Blades I farmed jsut droped to 25% of their current market value Over Night. WOW, so there goes 5 months of Farming in my off time. To gather swords, That I would have eventually Sold. Because you wanted to do what? Make it incredibly easy to get the best weapons/skins in the game? I mean WTF is the point anymore.

And now TOMES? are you Fing kidding me.

so NO LIE. I tested it last week.

18 hours of game play. TOTAL = max lvl, Most elite armor in game, best runes, best incription, fell blade max stats max inscription. Best Farming Builds available through Tome usage. Total cost 150k.

so for 150k and 18 hours I have just BEATEN GW for life. There is really nothing else to want. Yeah I diddnt max out titles, or beat all 3 campaigns FINE. But is this a Single player game, where beating a story line is the point?

No its an MMORPG where getting some piece of armor or a weapon or skill that some one else doesnt have is SUPPOSED to be the point.

I look around any town and see nothing but l337 characters fully tweaked out. I cant remember the last time I saw more than 2 characters not wearing 1.5k or higher armor in the same place.

So whats next? Are they gonna input a Farm somehwere, where Dire Blackwidows spawn. And you can warp there from ascalon for 10k. And jsut tame one. Yeah that would make sense.

Seriously if they take my black widow away, and make it really easy to get Im gonna fing quit.
If you are SERIOUSLY hardcore, you shouldn't be whining about things that were big 6 months ago. Fellblades? Please. I buy Fellblades at Costco for $5... And the box is quite large. Go for a crystalline sword and don't complain about a relatively easy to farm weapon.

Now, for black widows? Those are just spiders...with a red spot on their back. Hardcore people like you claim to be should be wanting rainbow phoenixes because they have "People Know Me" or more.

Don't complain that your "achievements" are being taken away from you. Find the next black widow, or the next fellblade. Or, get all of your characters 4 sets of FoW armor... Farming with a sin 100%. There's a nice little chore for you.
